The company also offers medical devices, such as surgical microscopes, endoscope reprocessors, electrosurgical devices, and respiratory-endotherapy devices, as well as system integration and maintenance/services. The company was formerly known as Olympus Optical Co., Ltd. and changed its name to Olympus Corporation in October 2003. Olympus Corporation was founded in 1919 and is headquartered in Tokyo, Japan.
