The company offers collection, recycling, treatment, and final disposal of urban, domestic, and industrial waste; and draining and management of rainwater in urban areas in cities of the North of Minas Gerais, as well as the water basins of the Jequitinhonha, Mucuri, São Mateus, Buranhém, Itanhém, and Jucuruçu rivers. As of December 31, 2020, it had 640 concessions to provide water services; and 310 concessions to offer sewage services. The company was formerly known as Companhia Mineira de Água e Esgotos and changed its name to Companhia de Saneamento de Minas Gerais in November 1974. Companhia de Saneamento de Minas Gerais was founded in 1963 and is headquartered in Belo Horizonte, Brazil.
